Welcome to Counselling at St Peters House

This is what St Peters House looks like from the outside.

It is an old, historic building in Tauranga so has lots of character.

If you are driving to St Peters House, there is free parking available in our carpark next to the house. The first 3 parks on the right are reserved for counselling clients, so feel free to park here. The parking is right by the house, so you do not have to walk far!
If you are taking a bus, the bus stop is not far away... less than a 5 minute walk.

There is a map for how to get here and where to park below.
Counselling is for you and it is important you feel comfortable!

Jo, St Peters House Receptionist
When you arrive at St Peters House, ring the doorbell and someone will let you inside. We keep the door locked for safety.

You will most likely be greeted by our friendly receptionist, Jo. She will welcome you and bring you to meet your counsellor.

You will then go into a room with the counsellor. Our counselling rooms are about the same size as a bedroom. You can bring someone with you, like a partner, parent, caregiver or friend – or it can be just you and the counsellor – or a mix of both.

Even though the furniture inside is comfy, you may prefer to go outside. There is a lovely big oak tree outside with a park bench under that we can sit on… if it is not raining of course!

We may start with a hot chocolate, tea or coffee. We try and have some things like books, putty, squeezy or fidget toys for you if you like to keep your hands busy.

You may want to bring something of yours that makes you feel comfortable!

A lot of people are scared of coming to counselling. It usually is because they do not know what to expect. It is not like you see on the movies with a couch you lie on and the counsellor with a clip board writing what you say. We can spend our time together talking about what you have been up to and give you a chance to download on what is happening in your life in a safe and confidential space. If at any stage you do not like something, just let me know. Or when you feel you do not want to see me anymore, that is fine too.

This time is for YOU!
